This new ordinance is a threat to Burbank’s democracy.
Certain members of the Burbank City Council are attempting to undermine the will of Burbank voters.
Who is pushing this?
The Burbank Tenants Union (BTU) is a group of renters, home owners, and housing providers who submitted a list of demands to the Burbank City Council after legal but unjust evictions took place in Burbank. Many of these evictions gave renters 60-days notice to move so that they housing provider could make renovation. You will hear the term “reno-viction” used. As a result, the City Council allocated $600,000 to help those renters relocate.

The BTU’s activism is rooted in the philosophies of Socialism, Marxism, and Communism, which seeks to abolish private property rights, and give all property control to the state. They proudly preach concepts from the book “Abolish Rent” by Tracy Rosenthal and Leonardo Vilchis. This video offers a comprehensive explanation of the history and consequences of Socialism.
